Start using cloth grocery bags

I’m wondering if using the plastic grocery bags for other things constitutes a good reason to keep using them. If I don’t get them, I have to use purchased plastic bags for the tasks – and that’s expensive and wasteful because the bought bags are much hardier than the grocery ones.
