lneccesity is the mother of all . . .

I used to cook, especially when I was a child. I can cook. Sometimes I need to be reminded of cooking basics, but it’s not because I’ve never done it or am unable to.

My husband is an excellent cook. So is my mom. When you need to cook (b/c the other option is tv dinner or b/c your partner or parent, bless their hearts, just can’t cook—they do cook, but it’s not entirely edible, you know?) well, then you are motivated to cook yourself. I, on the other hand, am not really motivated to cook b/c the people around me are willing (most of the time) and very able.

It would be nice – and loving, and responsible – for me to pick up a dish and a spoon every now and then and make dinner for my husband – or even for my mom! And I like really healthy food, so this way I have more control over what we eat. My husband cooks pretty healthy too, but lately we’ve just eaten take out, delivery, rice & beans, peanut butter & honey, oatmeal – mostly decent things, but in excess or exclusion – just too much. I crave salads and fish and stuff.
