OK, I kept the 15 minute cleanup list in mind and made some headway.
The first thing on the list is to put everything in a box if it doesn’t belong in the living room. I made it through over half of the room/apartment doing that, taking some extra time for recycling and filing (a downfall) as I went along.
Another item on the list was rearranging the couch. For me that’s a biggie, since I cover my couch with a tapestry that looks like crap after a party. Howerver if I use the 2 tapestries I bought, I can make it last through a party. That took over 20 minutes by itself.
another thing I did was arrange magazines & books. These fit well in shelves of my coffee table, which I covered with a tablecloth since it’s unfinished wood. No fun having red wine spilled on unfinished wood!
Tonight I’ll finish the rest of the living room, remove some carpet spots and wash the reusable plastic party cups I bought at safeway.

I am having a party on friday night and I took photos of my apt last night… definitely “before” photos, i.e. before it’s clean. there are papers just everywhere, that’s most of it, plus a few tote bags, etc with stuff in them. Some of the stuff, I really don’t know how to organize. probably means toss it but I can’t get myself to do that. has anyone hired a personal organizer??

well no one told me there would be a good new episode of ER on when I had planned to clean out the cabinet o’papers n’junk. so I did the laundry (one load- have to do another tonight) and got the compost out. need to do that again before I go away for the weekend. I am mostly maintaining the apartment OK from “outside” views but the boxes o’stuff still line one wall of my bedroom. not enough time to deal with that. maybe tomorrow for an hour!!
I have to do laundry, take out the compost and… that’s where it gets hard. What’s left is a lot of organizing and decluttering. I will organize my cabinet o’junk!! the place where stuff got stashed when I moved into my place, but barely ever saw again… Good use of time during laundry.
