so week one of my training program is completed… it went well, having the nike+ has helped a lot, it’s a little motivator. week two begins today and i have to walk at a moderate pace for 30min four times this week. i think i can do it.

i’m attempting to put together a relay team for a marathon here in october… it won’t be the whole thing but it’ll be part of one. i keep saying next year but i’m thinking i really won’t be able to run one until i have more time in my life… for now 8 miles of a relay team will be fine…
next year.
other things have taken too much of my time this year. school, work, sleep. especially sleep. i think i need to find more of a motivator other than just the fact that i want to do it. maybe i need to find someone to do it with me.
i get pumpin right now, like today and everyday from now on… this may have to wait another year. my summer is kinda hectic. 3 jobs and taking a summer class. i like being busy but it’s keeping me from running. i just need to WAKE UP EARLIER… which i believe is one of my other goals..
so i made a complete joke of myself on the 8th of this month. i decided even though i hadn’t been able to train i’d run a 1/2 marathon… needless to say i did HORRIBLE! i ran the first 11 miles without stopping (farthest distance i’ve run in a race)but after that my knees hurt so bad i just couldn’t go any further so i had to walk to the finish line. if they would have had some sort of golf cart i would have taken it. i finished in 3:05:06… but i did learn a valuable lesson about the need to train haha (i knew that already i’m just stubborn) but this did some how get me closer to accomplishing my goal.
he says that once he can run again (he’s having surgery) that we’ll def. get together to run on a weekly basis. i’m very excited for this… hey if a 54 year old man can run a marathon why can’t i?
so i ran another 5 mile race this saturday… it was snowing horribly, to the point to where i could not see. it was so cold i had to wear way too many layers to run comfortably. there was one downhill at the start of the race, three up hills and the finish was one of them. i did horrible, 53:36. i was hoping to beat my last time, but maybe the conditions just weren’t right… it just makes me think, if five miles was hard… but it also makes me think, if i made it through that crappy weather, etc. i can do anything… i need more motivation. i called my coach to run with him but he’s out til march. we shall see what my schedule looks like. stupid school and work i wish i could just run all day. but most of all stupid wisconsin weather.
stupid cold weather, keeping me from running outside. i’ve decided though that i’m going to join badger land striders this summer and do their runs in hopes of doing the lakefront marathon on october 1st. 10 months… i can do it!
working at bally’s has provided me with a multitude of running partners. i’m very excited and i think i’m going to do the fox cities half marathon before i do the lake front marathon. ALSO my brother said he’d pay me if i completed the full 26.2 miles! i told him he could pay for my entry fee but he said he’d only pay me after i completed… but the amount of the enterence fee.
p.s. those are some of the girls i coach in the pic.
