I’m finding that Blockbuster Online is a great way to complete this Goal. I’ve got all the movies I want to see in my queue and I’m just finishing them and mailing them back, waiting for the next DVD to arrive. All in the comfort of my own home and underwear.

Excellent. From the hauty intellectual narration by the critic, to the freeze frame of Eve, all the way to the masterful acting of Betty Davis as an aged actress fearful of the youth around her to the betrayal by Eve this film sucked me in and spit me out. It is exciting to see a great film hold up for over 50 years…it still works great today.
I saw the Maltese Falcon recently. It was an interesting film noir, seemed strange and at times contrived. I guess I’m watching it from 2005 mentality and I suppose that it was really fresh in its time. I just have a hard time getting over how fast the story progressed (to fast to be realistic) and how ridiculous it was. However, after saying that, I really did enjoy it.
I just watched Chinatown. Very good. I think people who have been watching mystery, suspense movies for the past 30 years may not think this movie is a big deal, but it is really amazing. It’s Film Noir with emotional fragility and depth that I’ve never seen. Tragedy through the eyes of Polanski is something to be pondered, listened to and affected by.
