Keep taking risks. Julia Cameron says in Walking in the World that avoiding depression is easier than pulling yourself out of it. I, along with anyone else who has successfully emerged from that dark place, agree. She advises the best way to keep your spirits up and away from depression is to continually take risks. Do things outside your box. Make mistakes and keep learning and moving forward. Do things you don’t know how to do. It’s the only way to learn how to do something and build your courage and self-worth!

I have discovered that self-esteem may be correlated to physical activity and doing things outside my box. I guess doing things I didn’t think I could do. Pushing myself to try new things. Last night I walked/jogged at the Y for 30 minutes. Usually I just walk. I felt good and I felt accomplished.
Also, over the weekend, I went to a city I’ve never been to before, I rode on a bike trail I’ve never been on before, and the past two nights I’ve discovered several new things about Reason so I can make my sounds and songs more unique. So excited! Which in turn makes me feel better about myself. My sense of adventure has really awakened lately!
