So now I actually have space. Yay!

Every time I do a drop off, I see I get more space (even if it’s only a little bit) in my room. And I feel better knowing someone who can’t afford to buy books can go to my local, small-town library and perhaps buy one for only a few dollars or borrow it.
My local paper had a front page (!) article about how libraries are barometers of the economy—more people come to borrow books, movies and the computers when things are not so great.
People discover the joys of free wi-fi, the cheapness and the quiet. However, as one librarian said, when cuts are made, public services like libraries are the first to go.
I haven’t gone to donate books lately, but when I have a break coming up thankfully very soon, I will drop a bunch. (If the weather isn’t too bad…)
Amazing how the pile grows when I don’t go regularly. Thanksgiving is coming, so I’ll have an easier time with it.
My new job has prevented me from doing this too much. And I’ve bought books in the meantime ._. I like to think that I’ve donated to a place that needs money (don’t we all…) in a serious time. They’ve had their last sale for the year, though, so perhaps I’ll just wait.
Unfortunately I can only do this on the weekends since I pretty much get home when the library closes (stupid limited hours.) On the upside, I can just dump the books in the return bin, since they don’t actually print receipts.
The only thing is I wish I could see what books of mine get sold and what they add to the collection. It’s a smaller suburb library instead of a big city one. Which means less homeless people, but at the same time, the selection is FAR more limited (and indeed, they have a lot of empty shelf space.)
It’s fun. It’s amazing how much space I’m starting to free up.
It’s nice to get space and find books I didn’t even know I had. They need to go though.
Woo! Unfortunately, my books seem like Tribbles…I donated about 15, but nothing looks too different.
...but I will do this next time I go. Every time I have to return a library book, I will bring some books along (part of my problem was that I didn’t have bags/boxes to carry the books in. It’ll be a bit of a pain, but I think I have found a solution!
I was going to donate them to the library by my work, but after looking at the somewhat sad (it is!) inventory my local library has, my hometown loyalty has won out. Yay.
