I’ve started reading Gaelic lessons online – here: http://www.inac.org/irishlanguage/ The pronounciation is sometimes confusing, but the reast is clear enough, pretty much.
But for now I can’t say much more than My boat is big or The cat is over there and things like that.
It’s a beginning, though.
(Why does everyone keep saying Gaelic is dead? People who speak it are few… if you can consider a couple hundred thousand people a few… but dead it’s not.)

I know the language is difficult and all – but I really, really should try, having in mind how much I like it and how much I respect Irish culture. I’ve bought a primer – just a book, there is no CD, and a small dictionary, but it’s difficult, doing it at home, by myself, not even being able to hear it on a tape or something. Oh, well, maybe I can learn the written language, at least, and then try and travel to Ireland one day, and actually enroll a course…
