Give blood regularly

again yesterday at my office. I had another really good technition and it was virtually painless.

again today. This was the fourth time and again it was pretty painless. I got a tee shirt for committing to donate blood 4 times this year.

I did my third donation. I’m committed to doing this and since it’s so easy I don’t see myself quitting. They come into my office and my company lets me stay on the clock…not that I really have to clock in/out.

again today. This time I made sure to be well hydrated before I went and it went much better. Within 5 minutes I was done giving blood.

i recieved my red cross donation card. i’m type O negative. i think that makes me a universal donor.

on monday i was playing with the neighbor’s dog and got scratched. does that count?

the red cross comes to my office and sets up a station in our cafeteria every couple of months or so and today i finally went in and did it. if you ever decide to give blood make sure that you hydrate for a day before you do so. i didn’t do that and it took 15 minutes to draw a pint of blood. The nurse said it normally takes 4-7 minutes. overall it was a great experience. everyone was very nice and i even got a pin out of it. i don’t think i’ll complete this goal until i’ve done it a few times and make a regular habbit of it. oh yeah, and i got a totally cheesy blood donor pin too.

there is no debate about it, this is a worthwile thing to do. my county has had record low levels of blood supply lately, so it’s a good time to start. I think red cross is coming to my office next week, so it’s a good time to get started.
