We’re in the home stretch. I think another 2½ weeks and we should be done.

Ordered all the appliances. You can still hear my credit card screaming…
The new wood floor is down! The bathroom has been tiled and is 1/2 grouted.
It’s acutally starting to look like something other then a mess.
The rotten roof has been taken off. The useless wall in no more. And I am happy.
Okay we have a foundation!
Now we are back on track. I need to choose a medicine cabinet, outdoor sensor lights, sconces for either side of the siding door and a light bar to go over the bathroom mirror, and bathroom door.
When can I squeeze this shopping in? Good question.
Bit of a problem…
Foundation problem that is. Now that my heart has stopped trying to jump out of my chest I can think straight. It all seems to be okay now. But costly. So much for the new furniture.
The pointless windows are gone!
They where as old as the house, made the house a ice box, and faced the neighbors.
The contractor has framed both the new kitchen window and the sliding door. The window is in and the door should be in by the end of the day.
This is an enormous process. Every step is exciting.
As it always is when you take something apart you find some good stuff and some bad.
Let start with the BAD – maybe very bad
All the electrical is original with the house – about 90 years old.
Once the wall and tiles where taken down in the shower we discovered a leak between exterior wall and the tiles. So we have a bunch of beams that will need to be replaced.
Now for the GOOD
It turns out the ceiling that we’ve been living with these past years has been a dropped ceiling. And the one above it is sloped. It’s about 24 inches higher. It will make the whole room so much airier. Especially since it’s such a small room :-)
