my uncle is visiting the uncle who made the book originally…. says he’ll ask him to mail it to me! exciting

..........

my aunt sent me a really weird letter in response about the book, something about how she thinks her brother (who wrote the book) might be totally wrong… my cousin says she’s getting a little strange after her stroke, so who knows. she did mention something vague about one of the relatives being in george washington’s army, which thrills the early american history lover in me, but it may just be family folklore, one never knows. at any rate, she made sure to pry about my marriage and demand recent pictures, so not a wasted interaction! i really do think she’s kind of cool and tough.

today

i wrote to my aunt about this. I hope she is able to hook it up! I haven’t looked at this book in years, but it goes into insane detail about my paternal grandmother’s family back to the 1400s! I think my dad’s brother put it together, so there is a lot of his immediate family, letters and things between my uncles and aunts and grandparents that died long before i was born. I have a cousin who often tells me that some aspects of my personality are typical in that side of the family, but i know very little of the history and i’m looking forward to learning more. i’m going to see my dad this winter and i think reading through the book beforehand will yield some interesting conversations/discoveries during the visit.
