learn poi

I received lesson 1 while sitting in D lot before Burning Man last year. 2 of my 3 companions on the trip spin, the 3rd was my husband. The two of us were trained as safeties and worked the show in the Great Circle. Now – months later – winter has worn on to a point that I can no longer sit still. The novelty glow poi I bought last year have been staring at me from the shelf. So – a few days ago I picked them up and began systematically beating myself black and blue with them. I can’t stop though. I’m completely sucked in. I’ve been using some of the videos on Home of Poi and luckily my companions from BM are still a daily part of my life – so I have “mentors”. I love a challenge, and learning new things, and working on anything that requires skill – so I’m working at it. We’ll see where it goes from here.
