How I did it: I have a 2001 Honda xr400. This model has no battery or electric starter. The standard OEM stator produces only 100W of electric power. I was debating to buy an after market 200W stator. That would supply enough power to all lights, but that was adding another $150 plus installation to the price. After doing some research I have decided to by a Dakar Dual Sport Kit from http://www.electrosport.com. It has a small battery build in it to ke… Read how I did it…

- I decide to keep and utilize my original back light. I used the back light fixture with the wiring harness that came with the kit and replaced my existing one with it.
- I wanted to attach back blinkers onto a frame and not on a plastic fender. For that I had to enlarge two existing holes at the back of my frame so the blinkers would fit there.
- I kept my kill switch wired as is without routing it through the kit.
The installation was very straight forward. I got confused only once when I was reading in the Instruction manual that this kit needs to be install using high power stator (which I did not purchased). I called electrosport support and confirmed that kit can be installed using original stator as well. From my local licensing office I found out that all I have to do now is to bring my title and new street legal one will be issued to me.
All right. I like that, now I can bring my horse to town legally..
