Wow, I'm still struggling with this one.

I’m slowly working my way through my stockpile of bath and body products. I haven’t stopped buying the stuff, I’m just using it faster than I’m buying it right now.
Our cupboards are currently overflowing with canned and dried goods. I think I could go for at least a month with only buying fruits and veggies.
My tea collection is absolutely out of control. Tea party anyone?

Still trying...

I’m doing ok with this goal except when it comes to bath and body products. I don’t know why I feel the need to buy so much of that stuff! I haven’t been too bad lately, but I currently have (among many other things) 4 bottles of body lotion, 3 bottles of face moisturizer, 5 kinds of lip balm, and a 5 month stockpile of tampons (they were on sale).
I’m really trying to use this stuff up. I can’t believe how much space it takes in the bathroom.

Moving...

across the country will force me to use up the things that I have before I go. Part of me likes the idea of getting rid of so much stuff, but another part of me is looking forward to the shopping I’ll get to do when I reach my new home! I’ll have shiny new bottles and containers of everything!

Slipping backwards...

This week I “stocked up” on a few things.
The deodorant that I like was on sale, so I bought three of them. I also bought a lip gloss and some other makeup which wasn’t on sale. I bought the makeup because often when I run out of something and go to buy a replacement, the colour/style/size that I want is sold out. So I saw them and bought them “just in case”. I need a slap on the wrist for that one – it was just silliness on my part.

Not quite there yet.

I have been doing reasonably well with this goal lately, but I did succumb twice in the past month. I bought some eyeshadow (which I have worn only once) and a new shirt which is not exactly a justifiable purchase. I bought the shirt using the excuse that I needed some more clothes for work. In reality the new top is funkier than anything I’d ever wear to the office.

More space

I am seeing less clutter in my bathroom these days! Its getting easier to find things in my kitchen cupboard!
I am now trying to shop for only about 2 or 3 days worth of meals at a time. I think I’m throwig out less spoiled produce too.

Resourceful

When I refrain from buying stuff that I don’t need, I become very resourceful.
I surprised myself by cooking up some really great meals by using the stuff thats already in my cupboards!

slow progress

I’m actually starting to make some headway with this one. I’m a bit broke at the moment, so its helping me to keep my “stocking up” under control.

This is really tough!

I’m still having a hard time with this one…I have a silly little fear that if I don’t buy what I want immediately it won’t be there later. Now that may sometimes be true of clothing (they always seem to sell out of my size first!) but the concept doesn’t really apply to a lot of the other things I buy.
Stuff I bought recently:
-chamomile tea (have about 15 teabags at home)
-hand cream (have 4 different bottles/jars of moisturizer on the go)
-bubble bath (already have enough for at least 30 baths)

You get the idea. I need some serious work on this!

How?

I am really struggling with this one. I’m beginning to realize just how materialistic I am.
One of the reasons I started using 43 Things was so that I would focus on non-material things. I do believe that I am moving in the right direction, but I’m having an awful time trying to break my spending habit.
Why is it that I always feel like I need new stuff???
