The auditions for Eye for a Tooth are scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday (07 and 08 October). I spoke to Angelina, the Production Manager about the logistic of the auditions which are further complicated since I can’t be there as my wife is pregnant and about to give birth.
Angelina was wondering about the characterization of the roles so the actors who were auditioning could get some background on the emotions needed for the scene they would be auditioning. She was aldo wondering about the actor blocking and action. So to help the crew out especially the cinematographer who will be directing the auditons, I wrote up a characterization for each role and explained the plot of the movie so they could understand the emotions involved for their character.
I have to get a few other items to her tomorrow and will report back here then.

I am currently in preproduction for a movie called Eye for a Tooth.
Title: Eye for a Tooth
Type: Narrative Short
Logline: When a man traveling in San Francisco interrupts a rape he vows to catch the fleeing rapist and discovers his own dark side.
Cross: Death Wish meets Heart of Darkness (Joseph Conrad)
Treatment:
This story is about Colin, a man down on his luck traveling to San Francisco for a job interview. He stops at a diner and befriends Jordan, his waitress who is recently pregnant. Upon leaving the diner, he investigates a noise in an alley. A door suddenly opens to the alley, and he discovers that Jordan is being raped.
The rapist flees the scene and would most likely get away, but Colin decides to run after him. Colin chases the man through a park and into a zoo. This new setting separates them from the city, police, and the prying eyes of the public. This isolation from the city along with Colin’s desire to bring justice to the rapist sparks a primal urge in him to exact revenge for what the rapist has done. He gets carried away and beats the man to death.
Much of the story takes place while Colin discusses these events with his public defender. Flashbacks are used during the retelling to illustrate the actual events to the viewer. Colin understands that he has committed the ultimate transgression and struggles with how to handle his defense. During this conflict Colin reveals a past experience that fueled his anger toward the rapist. His struggle culminates when he decides that he must tell the truth and accept his full punishment. The decision is cathartic and liberating.
