Due to some cable problems with my new apartment I have to use dial-up. No idea when the cable line will be redone. So now I actually look at less on the web – but it takes more time! I’ve forgotten how slow internet access can really be. It’s torture! Just checking my email and uploading images to Flickr is a huge ordeal. I have to make sure I’ve got some time put aside, and something extra to do, like having a book to read, while I’m waiting for the pages to load.

Yesterday (Saturday) I spent way, way to much time on the internet, poking around and drooling over things I can’t afford and ooh-ing and aah-ing fancy websites I could only dream of designing… way too much time wasted. So today I made myself a little hour-by-hour schedule with everything I needed/wanted to do today, and tried to keep to it. I liked having the structure, even if I did end up tweaking it a bit and moving things around. It worked much better than a ‘to do’ list for me. I got quite a lot done: fit in some exercise time, some drawing time, some working time, some cleaning time… and at the end of the day I wasn’t thinking “My god, what happened to the daylight?!” (But I’m still getting to bed too late. Dang.)
Dear 43things and flickr and del.icio.us,
You are not helping me achieve this goal. Please be a little more supportive. Stop eating so much of my time.
Thank you.
