give with an open heart, or dont give at all

The hardest part isnt the giving with an open heart, its having to so no because Im “giving” for the wrong reasons. Its made me look at myself really hard and Ive come to realize that sometimes we give not because we want to but because its easier than saying “you know what, I cant right now” or “thats not something I’m interested in”. I sometimes did things for people I really didnt want to do because I didnt want to upset them and in doing so I stretched myself too thin and everything else in my life suffered because of it. And I was quietly resentful about it. Not good. So now i give with an open heart, expecting nothing in return and enjoying the experience. I’ve actually found that I give more now than before!Weird.
