Met in Worcester, took 190 to 2 out west
where we visited plenty of new places
Hopping along Couch Brook in Bernardstown
Signs of what used to be there in Rowe in the 1800’s; Quaintness
Traveling through Charlemonte which is just as fun to be there as it is to say
Monroe and the Deerfield River
Old churches, community center, library, and town center in Heath
The Zucchini Festival in West Stockbridge which attracted hundreds
The huge wind turbine in Hancock, and the windy curvy dirt pot-holed roads barely ride-able
The confusing intersections in North Adams
My goal is to get done all of Western Mass by the time I move up to New Hampshire. This will take two more road trips, one already planned and one that needs to be planned. There are now about 15 towns west of eastern mass that are left (if that makes sense).
including Acton (and we visited the Arboretum, which is beautiful!), Ayer (which we drove through how many times?), Townsend (where we stopped to go rock hopping in a river), Gardner (which had some one ways), Shrewsbury (which we got caught in a residential area and couldn’t get out of!), Clinton (where we saw VoteForHillary signs), Lancaster (where we passed Atlantic Union college), plenty of towns that had rotaries (yay!), and a town with a gazebo where we painted pictures with toothbrushes and ate cantaloupe. Fun adventures. Can’t wait for more!
and would you look at that…. the whole southern line of towns- done! woo hoo!
we made an adventure to mount washington, the town in the far left hand corner of mass the other day. we took the scenic route, going through all sorts of new towns such as egremont, great barrington, sheffield, and mount washington. i’ve gotta update my map once i find it! yay!
It was beautifully sunny on Thursday afternoon and I didn’t feel like doing work after classes. Roomie, are you interested in Douglas? So we went on a road trip/adventure to Douglas via 146 and drove around for a bit. We found a pond-ish body of water that had some trash in it and didn’t look too safe. Then we discovered Douglas State Park and took a stroll along a path in the forest to a beach. Very pretty. Lots of land between the houses. We drove around a bit more, then went east on 16 through Uxbridge and Mendon (stopping for ice cream at George’s Surf&Turf) before heading into Millville. We were trying to find the center of town, but we ended up just driving for a while. We did find the middle school. And a few cemeteries. And we also ended up in Rhode Island at one or two points. And then adventured home.
Today Chris and I decided to travel to Milton, Ma, which is near Boston. We knew there was a forest there. We took 9 to 128 and ended up in Wellesley for a bit first (quaint place- I liked the town center). We didn’t stay in Milton for long before ending up in Boston, so we had to turn around and ended up at the end of a dead end street next to a one way. Everything in Milton seemed to be about the Blue Hills. While we didn’t actually see any blue hills, we did see every conceivable thing named after them and a lovely foresty/water/rock-ish nature scene. So we walked around for a bit, snapping pictures.
We also ended up in Canton a few times. And Dedham. And Norwood. And Plainville. And…....... fun adventures!
Biked all through Watertown this weekend. En route to Boston from Worcester. I like that there were bike paths and the land was decently flat as well.
I’m on Spring Break now. More time for adventures.
I’ve got it figured out that I need a dozen or so adventures this year to finish it off.
So there are a few excursions planned. We’ll see how those go! They should be successful. I just don’t like leaving gaps though- visiting all the towns in a far off place, but forgetting just one small town!
