and we ran on the beach flying kites, finger painted trees and grass and sky on paper plates, and made colored toast (drawing on bread with food coloring/ milk mixture).
it was such fun though.
yay creativity.

making a pie the other day at a friend’s apartment
and not having everything I regularly have
(i.e. blender, mixing spoons, certain ingredients)
and improvising with what I did have.
I ended up using my hands as a mixer and attempting moderately successfully to blend the silken tofu and melted chocolate.
Have the necessary tools to start embroidering. Will teach myself sometime?
Was in Nantucket
and saw many horribly designed and ugly postcards
took a picture of the contact info on the back
may contact them about doing postcards/pix
magical about making bread from scratch.
Today I made focaccia. I loved kneading the dough. Watching it rise. And the smell of bread cooking. And the taste of it fresh from the oven. Melted in my mouth, practically. (I called my sister in law immediately after it was done, I was so enthused, asking if I could bring her some freshly made bread).
Through cooking/ baking, I’ve found a new way to express myself. Or at least to be creative. To be present.
I went on an adventure with a friend. We had stopped at a river on the side of the road in rural MA and were walking alongside it. I got the chance to fool around with my camera’s manual settings and try different shots at different angles with different apertures and shutter speeds. I had missed that feeling. Oftentimes back home I don’t have time to find the perfect aperture and click the perfect picture- oftentimes there’s only a moment’s notice for a shot, then must keep moving on. This time we had plenty of opps. I enjoyed it.
Also! Got my brand new harmonica in the mail! And have been playing it lots (admittedly, while driving, along with the music on the radio)- but….....it’s awesome!
i’ll bet there’s an organization in my town that could use someone taking pictures, especially of the parks, historical sites, and the main street of the town. maybe i could help them out. i wouldn’t mind doing it for free either….
step one: take pictures of town (more pictures, at least)
step two: approach organization (i can get tourism etc brochures at the library, which would have orgs listed)
last week running a summer camp for kids
and so we spent a lot of time
coloring with crayons, making banners, drawing faces on balloons, playing duck duck goose, wiffle ball, dancing, pin the tail on the donkey, making friendship bracelets, playing board games, drawing with chalk, jump roping,
and all sorts of other things
that i enjoy using to express myself
creatively.
a week ago a few friends and i went on an adventure and i took along some toothbrushes and painting supplies and we did some painting at a town common.
when i was younger i had this dream of being the person who takes the pictures for postcards. i really wanted to do that and i took pictures all the time, especially when we were near the beach/touristy places. the idea just popped into my head again earlier today. i’d like to look into the possibility of actually realizing this old dream. i wonder how hard it is. i’ll bet it’s mostly free-lance. i wonder…. i’m going to look into it. it’s something i’d enjoy doing (and less stressful than weddings).
I love to express myself creatively
through drawing
coloring with crayons
finger-painting
photographing
doodling on notepaper
