Two weeks into yoga

More or less, I have recovered, but I want my flexibility to improve. I have been attending an adaptive (hatha) yoga class, primarily with a group of people I know from an aquatic exercise class.

I like it. My youngest sister, who is also a yoga instructor, is tickled pink.

Painkillers are okay

I am responsible and use them sparingly, and I’m perfectly within my rights to say I want some today.

Writing out a plan

It actually helped me get an idea of how I was going to go about injury recovery and getting into shape in general. I followed reference materials I’d used before, but decided to be a little freer with the format.

Progress thus far

Last follow-up appt with the nurse assistant was last week. I’ve been cleared to lift weights again (~25lbs.) as long as it’s not specifically weight-bearing on my back (no squats).

Setbacks

The cold has really slowed me down :-(

Recover from nausea

Will compile a list of the painkillers I am taking to figure out what’s got me so nauseous lately, and then share it with the appropriate people as well as a little ‘Net research.

Overdid it Thursday

6 miles is just too much.

Walking coming along

Yesterday (October 27th) I walked several blocks with the fam to get the kids flu vaccinations.

Still working on walking

Next Monday the in-house physiotherapist comes for the last time to make sure I get into a car properly, to ride, as I have a post-op appointment that day.

The surgery is done

It has been eight days since the surgery and release from the hospital. Met with the in-home physiotherapist today. She says I’m doing GREAT and I just need to be a little bit more mindful of not twisting (no BLT generally—Bending, Lifting, Twisting).

So I am cleared to return the walker and start building up a walking program. Started today.
