I went to the library today and picked up a couple of books by Osho (“The Everyday Meditator” and “Body Mind Balancing”), hoping that it can put me on the right track. I’ve been doing daily meditations almost every day for about a month now and I’m up to 7 minutes. I started at 3 minutes and have been adding 1 minute every week. I guess it’s a process that takes time, but up to this point I’ve had only one really good experience (it was great, though, and it gave me an idea of where I want to be). I’m hoping to be able to do that again.

Today I really enjoyed my meditation. When I started this I decided to do only a few minutes, so I wouldn’t have any reason to skip it, but now I want more. Maybe I’ll do a session this afternoon. Still prefer doing it in the morning, though, because things are a lot more quiet and peaceful.

Now I’ve been doing daily meditations every morning for a week. It’s going better and I notice less and less mind clutter. If a thought comes up, I accept it as a part of my meditation, without getting lost in it. Sometimes I ask my self “I wonder what my next thought will be” and try to be fully aware of my mind. Then normally the thoughts fade away, leaving space for the feeling of now. So it’s going a lot better now, although I’m still somewhat competitive about this (as I am about most things). I hope meditation with help soften my ego. I could need that.

I guess I started at the wrong end, trying to do too long sessions at first. Besides those meditation mp3s just distracted me, so I’ll try to keep it simple from now on doing simple 3 minute exercises every morning and then progress from there. Hopefully my whole body will adjust to it along the way, because y back is pretty tense and it feels awkward sitting in a lotus position for too long.

So from today I’m doing 3 minute sessions daily, observing my mind and my breathing. Just that. I like keeping it simple, actually.

I spent another 30 minutes this morning, trying to meditate and maybe it went a little better. It’s hard though, because I think the CD is silly and I just can’t let go. I think I’ll try to find some books by Osho, because I like his ideas.

I tried meditating for the first time today, using binaural beats. It is said it makes it easier, but I guess in either case it needs practice. So I’ll try to do this every morning the next six weeks.
