talk to strangers

Yesterday I went out to meet some friends, and I brought my ukelele with me. And guess what, I met a guy who was carrying an ukelele too! Of course that got us into conversation, and I’ve found out he’s from the same region as I am. and he played some songs for me. So that’s my greatest tips, always carry an ukelele. Of course I meet new people all the time, but that’s generally at parties and I think the point of doing this is doing it without alcohol, and just being confident, out-going and possibly make new friends. I’ve noticed that old people talk to whoever without being insecure, and I’ve had some nice conversations with the elderly. But it would be great to have that confidence now, and being able to talk to anyone about anything.

I did this one night I was walking alone downtown at night, having nothing better to do. I sat at a bench and figuring out what to do when an African man walked by and said hello, and it turned out he was from Gambia. We had a nice chat in English and Spanish, about music and cultural differences. I tried to explain to him that in Norway you never, by no means, talk to random people on the street, but that it’s a silly cultural thing up here. Later the same night I met a boy from Ghana, he was nice, but very ongoing about getting my phone number and I said no. I don’t know if I should be more open towards people, but I don’t really like giving out my phone number to random people.
