write a novel

I just need to give up television and make use of all that extra time.

I finally figured out how to use the free novel writing software I downloaded when I planned to do NaNoWriMo. I have two scenes outlined. They aren’t sequential, and they aren’t really good – well, one sux, but I feel incredibly proud, as though I did something terrific. And I can’t even boast about it because i don’t want to have to show anyone…

I was very disappointed for a while, but the bronchitis that followed the amazing stress at work helped me put things in perspective. I still have the lingering feeling that if I don’t start now it will be too late, but I am forcing myself to take one step at a time, one day at a time.

I downloaded novel writing software that I learned about on the NaNoWriMo forums, and I have been researching writing a novel. Guess what I found out? That I have a far way to go before that novel materializes. But I have such a feeling of relief that I now know what I need to do and where I can go for information and advice.

This may not feel like progress, but it is.

I stumbled on the website in May, and I have been eagerly awaiting November since then, and not just because of my birthday. Now, with only a few hours to go before it begins, I am queasy in the tummy and a lot less certain that I want to do this, but if I don’t try, I may never do this, I may never know if I can do this. So, midnight tonight, I will write my first word.
