I lost track of my reading a few months ago 23 months ago

I’ve been busy with tons of other things lately, too. I am going to have to try again this year. Instead of reaching a quota, I think that I will just try to keep track of all of the books that I do read each year. I enjoy looking back and remembering.

11. Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 2 years ago

I have been reading the comic books that are making up season 8 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (my all time favorite tv show). I am a little afraid that I’m not going to make it to my 30 books this year, so I’m going to count 5 comic books as 1 read. Maybe that’s not fair. I don’t really care. I’m trying…

These comics are great! The art is great, and the writing really is like the show. The only downside is that I get through each one so fast, and I really want more. Oh, well.

10. Eldest 2 years ago

I finally got around to reading the second book in the Inheritance Trilogy by Christopher Paolini. I liked this one more than Eragon. (Sidenote: I rented the movie Eragon. Don’t ever watch it. If you loved the book, you’ll hate it. If you know nothing about the book, you’ll hate it. The author must have cried when he saw it…) Eldest definitely felt like a more mature read. I’m sure it has to do with the fact that the author was no longer a teenager when he wrote it. I am very excited to read the third, but I guess I will have to wait until he writes it. :) I’d give this book 3 1/2 stars out of 5 because I enjoyed it, and Paolini has an amazing imagination. It won’t ever be a trilogy that I call one of my favorites, but I would reccomend them to anyone who enjoys fantasy.

9. Lamb, The Gospel according to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal 2 years ago

This book by Christopher Moore was very enjoyable. It took me a while to get through, but only because I put it down for a little while. I always have a hard time coming back to a book.

I would definitely reccomend this book to anyone who doesn’t get offended easily and has an open mind about religion. It’s good stuff.

8. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 2 years ago

I won’t spoil it for anyone who hasn’t read it. Instead, I’ll state that I loved it, and I will move on.

7. Deception Point 2 years ago

Deception Point by Dan Brown was a pretty good read. It’s the same kind of thing as Angels and Demons or The Davinci Code, except that it is more political intrigue and less religious intrigue. It wasn’t my favorite, but it was easy to pick up and put down during the move. I finished it a couple of weeks ago, but didn’t have the time to post.

Now I need to finish the book I am reading in time to pick up the new HP.

6. Jimi Hendrix Turns Eighty 2 years ago

I finished this book by Tim Sandlin (my all-time favorite author) a while ago. I haven’t had much time for positing, so I am trying to make up for it today.

It was fantastic. It made me want to be a baby-boomer living in a retirement community. Do you think that is a feat? I do!

5. Eragon 2 years ago

I just finished this book. It took longer than I expected because I had borrowed it from a co-worker who decided to quit right when I reached the middle of it. It took me about a week to go and buy my own copy.

It was pretty good. I enjoy a good fantasy/adventure once in a while, and that’s exactly what this is. I would usually move right on to the next in the series, but I have a stack of books already that I need to get through. Eldest will have to wait.

4. "Ethan Frome" 2 years ago

I finished my 4th book this week. I have had “Ethan Frome” by Edith Wharton on my shelf for years. I know it’s a classic, but I have never felt like I was in the right place to read it. Nothing changed, but I picked it up anyway.

It started off very slowly for me. It did pick up, but the book was not my favorite. The ending was depressing, and the book seemed like a well-written romance novel. It’s just not my thing. I can understand why it is a loved classic, however I won’t be reading it again.

Next up…Eragon?

3. "Naked" by David Sedaris 2 years ago

I keep forgetting to post this one, but I finished it about a week and a half ago. It was a fun read. David Sedaris always cracks me up, and picturing him at a Nudist Trailor Park really made my day/week/month.

He is one person I would really like to know. I might head over to 43people…
