I realized that I cant wait for people to talk to me, and instead, I have to take the first step. I guess having a very close circle of friends have made me shy away from other people (outside the circle). At university, I took the plunge and asked a girl who sits opposite me in bio lab if she wanted to have lunch with me. That was definetly a weird experience – taking the first step. I guess I’ve never been the type to do that because throughout my life, people always came to me – soley from my “reputation” in middle school (I was in the ‘popular’ group in middle school; I left that group when I entered HS but still remained friendly with those friends who became the most ‘popular’ people in HS… thus the ‘connections’).
I have to say, it is slightly uncomfortable taking the first step by initiating a conversation, but I think, in the end, it’s well worth it. I’m thinking about joining some clubs here, to meet some more new people :)
However, I’m not 100% outgoing yet, so I think I’ll keep this goal on my list until I believe I’m pretty outgoing.

I went to 2 parties today (one in the day – leaving party) and one at night (18th birthday).
The first one was a complete bore. Like, the people there are so… not my kind of people to party with.
The second one started off awkward for me. Then came the music, bikinis, bbqs, vodka shots, cocktails and martini’s. I had a blast and made sure I didn’t coma out because I hate drinking alcohol to the point of passing out. I met loooooooads of new people! And just had lots of fun.
I think I’ll still keep this goal, and will post to complete when I go to my next party next weekend.. (just incase this time was just a fluke!)

I wish I was more outgoing. I get plenty of invitations to parties every weekend (as my close friends are the biggest partiers.. ie. have lots of connections) but I decline 95% of these party invitations because.. i don’t know.. I like being by myself, or with my close friends or with my family. I want to change this – I want to enjoy spending time with new random people, AND my close friends AND my family. I think this is very important to me at this age, as a highschool senior – to have a memorable hs life, in regards to socializing.
I have RSVP’d to 2 parties this weekend and I think that’s a big step for me in terms of completing this goal. My next step is to actually have FUN at these parties.
