Ugh!!!!!

I had a week from hell and my nails ended up bitten down to where they were almost bleeding. Also having chestpains, so at least when I was biting the chest pains weren’t so bad. I know, I know….stop biting the nails. I think I mentioned I had to take the fake nails off because they were getting problematic. Anyways, I’m going to try to start again…. :(

So far ...so good 2 years ago

I’ve not bit my nails yet, so I’m quite proud of myself. I’ve had a very very stressful week and I had not gone at my nails!!! YAY!

set back 2 years ago

Friday night I had a huge set back I had my fingers in my mouth and I couldn’t stand the gel nails anymore and I broke the tips off and took the rest off. I had one big biting session. It’s been a stressful week, so that’s likely why. In taking the nails off my index fingers – my nails are shaped strangely (they point sorta towards my thumb and so in taking them off they ripped a little far back so they hurt. I’ve got relatively strong nails, so I have enough nail to protect the nailbed, but I’ll need nail polish to make them look a bit better – they look pretty horrible again. My claw looking fingers are back as I have contracture in my hand muscles :( The nails made my hands look a little more delicate So I’ve stopped again…

couple weeks into this 2 years ago

Hi, I had the acrylics done a couple of weeks back. I didn’t realize my nails grew so quickly….

Anyways, yesterday I painted them. I keep them short so I don’t have to relearn how to use my hands, but I do find it difficult to do some tasks – opening a can for example is very strange with these nails. They are too thick to get under the tab so I have to find a slightly different way.

This week I had to file down the ridges where it needs filling. I’m not going to spend $30 every couple of weeks to have the acrylics kept up. I have strong nails. I am finding that I don’t have them in my mouth as much and I’m hoping by the time the acrylic is grown out the habit will be firmly in place. It is said that it takes about three weeks to form a new habit….let’s hope it works :)

got the urge to bite 2 years ago

I have been a nail biter for 40 years and I once again got thos gel/acrylic nails done on Sunday. They looked pretty nasty when they were on, but when I got home I filed them the way I thought was nice nad they look so much better. I had them done extremely short – not like the claws that some women have, and I had them done in a french manicure. It’s AMAZING how nice they look.

Today though I’m stressed and I’m kinda biting at them. I’m not chewing them off, but more like nibbling on them – hard to explain. It’s just the habit of having my fingers in my mouth when I get nervous, but I was never a thumb-sucker.

The thing is when you put the nail in your mouth to bite, it’s such a different texture both on your hand and within your mouth it alerts you not to bite.

How long this will last, I’m not sure, but I hope I never bite them again.
