Giving up the caffeine has affected my sleeping. I’ve always been a heavy sleeper, so I didn’t think this change in my diet would matter, but now it only takes me about 10 minutes to fall asleep at night! Previously, I would stay up watching TV or reading for 45 minutes to 1 hour before I finally passed out.
I’ve also been feeling less cranky when I wake up in the morning. Who knew Mountain Dew was my enemy all these years?!

I’ve been working on this. I started by eliminating caffeinated beverages. I’ll have about 1 soda a week instead of 1-2 a day. I’m not drinking much more water, but I’m drinking more milk and juice. I can’t believe how quickly I was able to stop craving that Mountain Dew at 10:30 every day. Of course, I had to stop carrying cash so I couldn’t hit the vending machine in the break room, and we only have sodas in the house that I don’t drink (like Dr. Pepper and Diet Pepsi).
I think, though, that I might be eating even more sugary foods than I used to. I’m going to try to start controling that habit next.
