learn a second language

I got My Spanish Coach and My French Coach for Christmas! Ooh la la! Fun games I am enjoying VERY much and even learning something. I don’t feel quite as productive when I play Super Mario Galaxy somehow.

Okay, so this is dorky, but I learn best from trying to read (or listen to) things in a foreign language that are things I’d normally do in English. All the language courses I’ve taken, especially audio courses, are primarily based on travel so you learn things like how to rent a car and ask for directions to the historic church. I want to know how to have a normal conversation with someone! Better yet, I’d LOVE to learn how to conduct a yoga class in Spanish!

So I was very delighted to find a copy of a new Spanish-language version of Shape magazine! I enjoy Shape in English, and I’m actually picking up on a lot of what the articles are getting at. I’m hoping that immersing myself it in over and over, I’ll eventually learn things in context and be able to apply that knowledge in other arenas.
