Friday I flew down from Michigan to Florida in order to visit with my hubby for a few days before finally taking him HOME! He has been working down south since October – I have missed him so much and our lives have changed pretty dramatically during this time.
Saturday we went out hunting for weird t-shirts at local garage sales and thrift shops (thank you St. Vincent de Paul!), then took in the Red Wings game at a local sports bar – so fun.
Sunday was lazy, we hung out all day watching Dirty Jobs and sipping cold beers. Hubby hunted for geocache sites near our route home while I cut and slashed and sewed my new t-shirts. Not too much new, but it’s been so long since I had a lazy Sunday with my husband, that seemed new all over again!
Today I am packing up all his clothes and gear and getting ready to rock the road. That’s sort of new, but what will be REALLY new is being totally flexible about whether my husband wants to take off tonight or tomorrow. I’m such a planner, trying to control events and outcomes, an attitude that rarely benefits me or anyone around me. So, I’ll be prepared for whatever he feels up to doing, and sometime very soon we will be on an awesomely new road trip! Tonight or tomorrow, doesn’t really matter!
YAHOOO, my honey’s coming home at last!!!

1) Watched a movie I hadn’t seen before (A Lot Like Love) which put me into a terrible mood. It’s not a terrible movie, but love stories make me miss my husband like crazy.
2) Did a DVD workout I haven’t tried before (Ultimate Calorie Blaster) which improved my mood tremendously.
3) Tried a new item at Taco Bell (Fresco-Style Chicken Soft Taco) – yummy!
4) Stopped at the Lapeer Goodwill to see if they had any funny, cool, tacky, or bizarre t-shirts for me to make into other clothing or decorative items. JACKPOT! Not only did they have some of the strangest shirts I’ve ever seen, but most of them were only 75 cents each! Holy cow! Can’t wait to start sewing, but all these shirts need a bath first. Heaven knows where they’ve been!

I got one of those TransFirmer step bench thingees and today tried my first workout on it (with one of the included DVD workouts). That was FUN!! A really good, well-rounded workout, and the multi-level step device added some really cool challenge to it. I am happy.
I used to get to work out every day (sometimes 2-3x per day) in my old job, now that I’m unemployed and have tons of time, I’ve barely worked out at all. It’s hard to decide whether to keep making sexy new shirts or to work out so I can look sexy in them! Must find balance . . .

Just got a new book in the mail today called Generation T (ordered off Amazon) that tells you how to turn your huge old tacky t-shirts into amazingly fashionable sexy designs. I have a tendency to buy lots of craft books and just glance through them without following any of the instructions, allowing them to inspire me to make other items.
But when this arrived, I sat right down and read the instructions immediately, and I made 2 of the projects within an hour! Now several of my old ugly t-shirts are new again, much better than before! MAN was that fun! This is one “new thing” that will become a habit very soon!

Okay, I spent most of the day organizing my craft room, which looks pretty awesome now. The REALLY new thing that I never have done before was to caulk seal the bathtub! I guess I won’t know how successful it was until tomorrow when it’s dry. It didn’t look too pretty before and it doesn’t look like House Beautiful now either, but as long as it doesn’t leak I’ll be happy.

So far I went shopping, out to lunch with my parents, and now and getting ready to unpack and organize my sewing/craft room with the new shelves I purchased this morning. Nothing real new about any of that. My cat gets to go see a new vet this afternoon, but that’s really more new for her because taking pets to the vet is old hat for me.
I did come up with a new idea today. I think it would be fun to write upbeat, encouraging, informative articles about health and yoga for some kind of local paper. I suddenly recalled that the people who run one of the weekly papers are old family friends. So, if I can come up with a few samples, maybe they will let me have some column space!
I haven’t actually done anything with this idea yet other than think of it, so it won’t count until I sit down and write something.

Today I tried cheddar & jalapeno flavored Veggie Crisps for the first time, and I have to say DELICIOUS!
I also tried McDonald’s new Asian Chicken Salad (without dressing, of course) and it is incredibly tasty – especially for McDonald’s.
I hope food counts as something new! I’m feeling under-ambitious today!
