it gets all jumbled

A lot of people don’t get that being able to understand and being able to speak it are two completely different things. I can understand when my parents talk to me, but when I try to talk back, it gets all locked up in my brain and refuses to come out without me stuttering… and having dead air and long bouts of “uuuuueeehh…..”. But I’m trying to speak to them constantly and I’m getting a little more fluent… which means I currently sound like a three year old.
