I don’t want to be a musical genius—I just want to make pleasant noises (and I’m a terrible singer).

I’ve tried to learn the lap-steel guitar before, but my instructor seemed to think I could learn it just by imitating some sounds that he made on it. I’m just not a good auditory learner.

Can anyone suggest an instrument that would be relatively low-cost, easy to learn, flexible, and that could be learned visually?
