Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

what do you do when the snap of the rubber band on your wrist hurts less than the picking feels good?
the welts are not pretty by the way ladies and gentlemen

rubber bands

so i came across a rubber band today, and thought, what the hell. well ive only had to use it a few times, but i actually have welts on my damn wrist. but havent picked all day….

yesssssssss i worry about everything, i even worry about things that i cant change because they happend years ago. its horrible. gives me insomnia, headaches, and i have a 10 month old to take care of.

i started journaling about this problem solely last night. im going to write about how much i picked that day, every night. i was in the shower a little while ago. ugh, i dread showers because i have to save all the hair that comes out so i dont clog the plumbing. its soooooooo horrible i swear you would think im going completely bald. and its worse after the days ive been just randomly picking all day too. ugh ugh ugh

dyed hair

yesterday i dyed my hair… im hoping that will stop me from picking for at least a few days. when i pick my scalp, it gets oily and i have to wash my hair constantly. but since i just colored it, i cant wash for a few days… so hopefully ill stay hands off. its comforting knowing you all are here, i just wish someone on here was a scalp picker. it would just make me feel better knowing im not the only one going directly to the scalp ya know?

so great

i had a horrible day. i was tired and cranky and so was my son. im stressed out from a recent pregnancy scare, so i totally let myself pick today. i was just going to feel around at first for any spots on my scalp i could pick off. but then towards the end of the day i was full blown scratching away, hair falling out between my fingers. i hate this.

ugh zits

i have a zit on the side of my head. a big one that is very very extremely itchy…. its making me want to pick at my head sooooooooooooo bad….

Doing well

For the past few days since I first added this to my list, I havent been so much picking as Ive been rubbing…
I cut my nails really really short so I cant pick at anything. So when I get the urge to pick at my head, I kinda rub through my scalp with the tips of my fingers looking for anything bumpy or scab like. When I find something, I get all excited and try to pick. But since Ive got nothing to pick with all I do is end up hurting my poor little fingers. I guess its a good stragety. But Ive done this before, and when I get the slightest little nail growing Im pick pick crazy. :(

need to stop

ive been doing this for years. its become completely ocd. ive tried over ten medications to chill out on the picking and scratching. i notice its usually when i need to relax, like when im reading or watching tv after the baby is in bed. or right before i fall asleep i just get the sudden urge (NEED) to scratch and pick at my scalp. ive got all kinds of scabs, and bald spots, it makes me sick to think about what im doing to myself. I CAN NOT STOP. Im getting married in april 2007. i need to stop NOW so my hair will start growing back and i will have confidence on my wedding day. i need help i need people who have gone through this to help me. i cant do it alone, ive tried for too long.
