Take control of professional life

Well – I asked for the bigger office. I know this sounds silly – but it’s all about the baby steps, baby! Now I’m just waiting to hear back…

I can’t be afraid of no. I need to ask for more money if I think I deserve it (as long as I can prove why – and I think I can make a pretty good case). I need to ask for more tuition reimbursement if I think I deserve it – and I do. As long as I’m professional, tactful, and make good points, the worst they can do is say no. I’m not going to get fired or anything – I add too much to the company right now. But I need to get past worrying about what people with think of a woman who asks for what she wants instead of assuming that people will notice my amazing work and come to me about it….

First step – ask for the bigger office that’s recently been vacated. If I don’t tell them I want it, no one will know and then I’ll just sit and stew for a while. Which won’t bother anyone but me!
