Mr. Monk Goes to the Firehouse 19 months ago

I decided to read Mr. Monk Goes to the Firehouse this week. This was the only Monk book that I had yet to read. I love Monk, and I am glad that I finally got to read them all. This one had a few discrepancies from the show, as the author hadn’t yet come to grip with the characters, but it was nothing major. I still enjoyed it a lot. :)

Julius Caesar 20 months ago

I want to read all of Shakespeare’s plays, so I decided to read Julius Caesar. This is my favorite so far. :)

I’m glad that I’m taking the time to read them and understand them, which is something I didn’t take the time to do when they were assigned in high school. The two that I have read so far are definitely as good as people say that they are.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone 20 months ago

Beginning with week two, I have decided to read the original books for the Harry Potter series, which are some of my favorite films.

It is great to see some of the differences between the book and the movie. I’m glad that I watched the films first, as I can hear the characters voices in my head as I read the books. Sometimes, it is better to read with a fresh perspective, but the movies are translated so well from the books it feels like I’m experiencing a longer cut of the movie.

I’ll wait until the movies come out before I read “The Half Blood Prince” and “The Deathly Hallows” but I can’t wait to read the other books. I might actually end up reading more than one book this week. :)

Week One 21 months ago

This seems like a great goal. I’ve wanted to read more, so setting a goal of one book a week for myself sounds pretty reasonable. I read pretty quickly, so I can read a book in a day. All I have to do is set some time aside so I can go to Barnes and Noble. Or, as I would really like to be able to do some day: find a book left by someone from bookcrossing.com and read it. :)

I was rummaging through the books my grandmother had at her house and ran across “The Tempest” by William Shakespeare. I hadn’t read anything by Shakespeare since high school, and I didn’t appreciate his work then, so I was glad that I finally had the chance to read it with an open perspective.
