I’ve decided on LibraryThing and have added a handful of books to it. It is slow going though, and I’ve lost interest for a while. I do love the community feature though – a whole book-mad community to interact with – woohoo! And it doesn’t feel as commercial as Amazon, which is nice. But unless I want to be lugging armloads of books around in a categorical manner, it ain’t gonna be finished anytime soon.

I’ve heard good things about librarything and I’d like to catalog my book collection. Now Google does offer a free books-you-own cataloging option, but there’s no community feature or list-sharing (that I know of yet) and this does appeal to me. Amazon’s lists are free and useful too…hmmm.
I don’t know how long it will take to do it, and of course whether I’ll love the librarything features or not, but I’ll see how I go. I also had a thought that having this book list could be useful from an insurance perspective. I’m not sure how e-books would work in; I have thousands of e-books electronically stored that I read on my pocket PC.
I am both a book lover and a gadget/technology lover, so having loads of books available to read from something that fits in my pocket is fantastic. I can’t wait until a colour version of an e-reader is available at a reasonable price – I was enviously cross that Amazon’s Kindle was only available in the States and not in Australia. I would’ve gone for the Sony e-reader, but it’s just WAY too expensive at the moment. So – my $65 second-hand pocket PC will do for now!
