financially liberate myself.

I’m currently failing this goal. I need to balance my checkbook, pay my bills and get my head out of my ass. URG.

Yesterday, I opened my very first savings account. I’m so excited. I have always wanted to do this, but never could. Now I have. and I can’t wait until payday so I can stick some more money in it. :-) I’m such a nerd. But I’m excited.

I just applied for my very first credit card last night. I got about 4 offers in the mail just yesterday and a few from the week before. I read through them and chose the one that was the best. I hope I get approved. I’m kinda nervous that I won’t be able to get one. I really need to build my credit. I don’t have bad credit, I have adaquate credit. But there aren’t many things on there. So I need to build it up a bit.

For the past 8-9 years, I have put my financial independence second to that of my significant other. Now, a single mom, I sit here, with 20 Gs in student loans, and no other creditworthyness. I want to clean up my credit report, start FINALLY saving money like I always wanted to, and earn my financial liberation! I’m so excited to finally be starting a life of MY OWN. :-)
