Makes me broke again. So much for that awesome overtime check.. hmmmpph.. The books are paid for, but I owe mom 600 for the car so I’m going to put that in my side bank account so I don’t spend it.

So I’m not doing very well at this one. I was looking at my bank statement and I’ve withdrew $439.85 more than I deposited in July. Yes I paid for college, but only 80 or so was taken from that account for that. Its easy to see where all my money is going though. Food and gas. I had 43 transactions and 25 were food related and 5 or 6 were for gas. Still 25 for food? It ended up totaling almost $500. Wow! I need to stop going to Carrabba’s to eat.. Each time I go it ends up being around $60. Me and my boyfriend take turns buying, but still I go a lot. We’ve already went twice this month lol. I’m nervous how this month is going, but I know its not as bad as last month at least. Now that I know how much I spend on food I think I’m going to go to the grocery store and start making my own meals at home. Especially with classes starting wed. I should spend my time more on books than traveling between classes to get food.
To save money I have been eating out less often. It’s actually been quite easy for me. Since I’m always so busy I haven’t had time to meet up with my boyfriend alot which is when I eat out. I’ve also pretty much stopped going to fast food for most of my weekly meals. This week hasn’t been the greatest because I’ve went to two different places in two days, but before that I was only going to two places a week at most. I’m also continuing the spending notebook. It has really made me face my spending although this past week I did terrible. Oh well hopefully I can get this moving again.
So I’ve decided I’m going to try an experiment. After reading this article about a man who lived off 15$ I started thinking about how much I really spend on food. I’ve always known it was a lot and have even mentioned it my last post, but never was able to slow the spending down. The experiment is I’m going to eat smaller meals throughout the day (for my lose weight goal), but everyone of them will be food from home if possible. Then maybe a dollar value chicken sandwich from wendys when I go on break at work because its cheap and fast. This should cut down my eating out spending by a lot. The first week on this has started today so wish me luck. I’ve also bought a coupon book. It was 25, but with my work discount only 20. I’ve already used it to save 5 dollars and with all the offers I’m sure it will come out being worth its price. Good luck to everyone.
So books for college, the app fair, school supplies, a friends bday, and a few other odds/ends have ran me dry. From the over 1,000 I had at the beginning of the month I now have only 309.00. I knew it was coming, but this still sucks. I do have a problem still with eating out on top of that. Hopefully that will go down a bit since I started to change my eating habits to more healthier ones. I’m planning on eating more homecooked meals so I know exactly what I’m eating. Goodluck to everyone.
I’m doing really good on not buying things I don’t need, but I spend way too much on eating out..I gotta put a stop to this.. Will I really lol.. Probably not, but lets give it a try. I can do this.
I’ve been spending a lot less ever since I started writing it all down. I found out that I spend money on things that I truly don’t need, but the accountability of writing it down makes me rethink buying things. I still spend a ton of money on food and eating out, but thats pretty much it. The next big purchase for me is going to be my school books, but I think dad may help me out with them. If not I have enough saved to buy them and still have 500 in there. Wow, how crazy it is for me to say that. I’m feeling proud lol. Goodluck everyone!
The writing everything down plan that I said I was going to do is going great. It makes me accountable for everything I spend because I also write down where I spent what. This way a lot of money is not spent on things I don’t need. Next step is to build up my checking account to have at least 500 in it. If I control my spending that should happen next week. Once I get it there I keep it there. Then I am going to start on my saving 10,000 goal. I might have a couple hundred saved up in security deposit box my mom has, but I haven’t been there in a long time.. (outa sight outa mind for a rainy day) Now is crunch time for me.. I need to figure out what I want to be in the future. I’m already a junior business major who has no clue what she is going to do with it. Hmm, I gotta figure something out. Goodluck to everyone.
I spend money like crazy it seems. I’m always eating out, always needing gas, or finding something else I just have to have. Well enough is enough. I’m going to buckle down and rely on myself instead of my parents. I have a summer job plus right now a softball camp that I’m getting paid for. Next week I have my only vacation of the summer(which I’m sure will leave me broke again), but then I’m buckling down. Less eating out, less fastfood (will also help in my lose weight goals), and no more needless spending. I’m going to get a book to write down everything I spend. This includes recording my bank account and keeping track of the debit card, credit cards, and lose money. I need to make a change!
