I didn’t get it looking perfect before the trip, and it would have been fine if they’d only fed the cats on the day we told them, however later on Sunday my daughter texted to say her grandparents had been to church and ‘accidentally called round and fed the cats’ again, even though we were returning that day. I took that to mean that my mother wanted to have a nosey around the house without the pesky grandkids reporting back. Oh well.
So yesterday, Thursday 13th. My cats have had an increase in flea activity since we have been home, and the kids’ bedroom carpets were particularly unpleasant in this regard, so I decided to battle them by natural means. My son’s bedroom in particular had all of his favourite possessions out on the floor on ‘display’ (getting dusty) and has been complaining he can’t get any more stuff because there’s simply no room. I assured him that if we just reorganise his storage options (mainly under his bed in many plastic boxes) he can have a few things out here and there, and rotate them from time to time, bringing out ‘new’ things from storage and putting away those he’s had out for a while. This will breathe new life into his old collections. He collects Bionicles and Qees, the newest of which is a ‘Domo’ we bought him in Forbidden Planet. Oh and his favourite boxed model from the game Bioshock. He’s still paying me back for that one!
Anyway, yesterday I chucked all the Bionicles and stuff on his stripped bed, vacuumed, dusted, put down flea powder (homemade) and left the room till evening, vacuumed again and then put all his bionicles back on the floor. He came in and said it looked great, and that he wants to help me today (to sort out all his boxed stuff etc). It’s gonna be a huge job, there are hundreds of Bionicles in boxes under that bed…

I’ve seriously got to get my arse in gear, going away again for the weekend on the 7th and don’t want to be in such a state when Dad feeds the pets.
My living room and bedroom are the worst hit areas. This is so hard when the PC is constantly calling me (finding it hard to resist) and the kids are hogging the TV so I don’t even feel I can hoover in there.

Not a good example for the kids!
I hurriedly tidied the corner of doom on my side of the bed the other day when I was frantic about finding something I thought I had lost. It turned up under the sofa cushion downstairs LOL.
Yesterday I reorganized my knicker drawer :) I have a lot of clothes kicking about for getting rid of, might take some to the charity shops but there’s still some I should sell.
Meanwhile I have gotten interested in making jewellery so I have a load of project stuff to find a home for once it all arrives in the mail!

at general household jobs, but the clutter has stayed.
My bedroom is atrocious!
Today the plan is to get rid of loads of old family board games and things the kids are too old for, in our gas meter cupboard. They are filling it!

I have been trying to be more organised and so far keeping the place tidy (well, the main rooms – kitchen, living room and bathroom and beds themselves) makes it easier to clean, which makes it quicker and I can get on with other things sooner than I might. I really want to tackle my bedroom, it’s still such a mess with loads of boxes most of which belong to my husband or are full of ebay stuff to sell (and bags full of stuff I told my parents I would sell).
Today I only managed to achieve some cleaning in the kitchen and went to the launderette to clean a duvet.
I need a better plan/regime for tackling the other stuff, my parents are feeding the cats next week and I suspect they are nosy…

yesterday. I found some things that were not meant to be in there, and I did a deep clean. Very therapeutic! I have set myself the task of getting the children roped in to sort out the games cupboard as it is stuffed full of games and puzzles that nobody ever plays with. Including a dance mat for the PS2 and we already sold the dance game that it was for ages ago!
I have some plans in my head for storage etc, and must keep chipping away at this goal over the next month or so. Got to get sorted out once and for all!

wish me luck with getting more decluttered today, my parents are going to be feeding my pets this week while I am on holiday! I reckon if my mum comes round she is quite nosey… Got to be tidy and hide any evidence of my secret life LOL ;)

It got really bad again.
I’ve just spent 45 mins doing dishes and sorting out my vitamin tray. I’ve had 20 mins on the PC for a break and I am going off to start chipping away again. We might have friends round tonight after a meal and the place looks a mess!
I went out for a meal last night too and I had to chuck stuff on the bed before we went as I couldn’t find something, when we got back it looked like a bombsite in our bedroom :o

Selling lots of hubby’s toys and comics on ebay, it’s going well but a slow process.
But it is worth it in the end if we get to have more space at the end of it! Trouble is he is spending as fast as he is receiving money, on new toys…

but I do have little spurts of being good and decluttering, honest. Just lately I have been trying to get on top of the paper clutter again, junk mail that sits on top of the freezer or stuff on my desk. It’s something I always mean to deal with the day it arrives but it invariably gets put off till there is a small ‘fire’ starting in these ‘hot spots’.
Today I got to grips with a load of junk mail, ripping the plastic windows out and recycling the bits that can be recycled. I feel a lot better now :)
