Obviously motivation (or lack thereof) is the key to procrastinating…
For those who are not self-motivating, usually something has to be painful enough in order to do something about it. For example, if there is a setting on my computer which I want to change, I may not change it right away… or the next day or the day after… but eventually, if what I haven’t changed yet gets so annoying, then I’ll eventually change it.
Secondly, being energized and refreshed helps in getting motivated. This past weekend, I basically stayed in the hotel. On my previous trips, I thought it was the extremely cold weather which was keeping me inside the hotel… but this past weekend, it was not bad weather. I do feel I was still suffering from jetlag, though… I felt tired on Saturday although I couldn’t fall asleep. Finally, in the evening, I fell asleep for a couple of hours. I felt much better afterwards, but then I stayed up the whole night. Then on Sunday, I was exhausted again and slept the whole day. Argh. But generally, I’m a believer that if the body is telling you to sleep, then it’s best to sleep. Maybe if I sleep outdoors, I can work on my tan at the same time! (Just kidding, I’m not one to just go out to tan…)
Anyway, fortunately, this lack of motivation on the weekend has not hurt me (too much) during the week as I have continued jogging at lunch on the weekdays.
