Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Stand-up Comedy Review

This website gives an interesting insight into different (mostly UK) stand-up comediens, their style of humour and (sometimes harsh and fiercely divided) comments from the public forum:

...and for those of you who don't have the time to go to a comedy festival

I present to you laughing yoga…

(ps. it may take a few moments to upload)

I went to the Ealing Comedy festival

There was a line-up of about seven comedians and one compare: Richard Herring, Shazia Mirza, Boothby Graffoe, Arj Barker, Felix Dexter, Shappi Khorsandi, Mike Wilmot and Ben Hurley as MC.

I would like to get a recording of this night as the comedians were seriously funny. I thought Shappi Khorandi and Arj Barker’s laid back humour were the funniest. Arj Barker did an excellent joke how WWII computer games taught him alot about history and how it had taught him about the location of a cabinet full of grenades. Boothby Graffoe did a really surreal set a ended with the audience accompanying him to a rather hypnotic song about an 8-legged baseball bat spider.

I spent the whole night laughing at this all-in-all very cynical brand of humour, but what else was interesting is also hearing other people laugh next to me which also made me smile. So it made me feel that not only how great it was to laugh but how great a thing it is to be able to make others laugh.

I don't know why I found this absolutely hilarious

Did you hear about Sophie Ellis Baxtor getting headbutted to death?

The police said it was murder on Zidane’s floor…

This is a bit cheesy and almost made me laugh

Out on her royal yacht the queen was enjoying the sea air when she spied a
man in the water off the port bow – clearly being menaced by a very large

Through her binoculars she could see it was Christiano Ronaldo, struggling
frantically to free himself from the jaws of a 20 foot shark!

The queen ordered the captain to change course to try and save the poor man,
but she knew the yachts top speed would never get them there in time.

At that exact moment a speedboat containing three of the England Football
team wearing their white tops, sped into view.

One of the men took aim at the shark and fired a harpoon into its ribs,
immobilising it instantly. The other two reached out and pulled Ronaldo from
the water and, using long clubs, beat the shark to death.

They bundled the bleeding, semi-conscious Ronaldo into the speedboat along
with the dead shark and prepared for a hasty retreat, when they heard
frantic calling …... It was the Queen calling them to the yacht.

On reaching yacht the Queen went into raptures about the rescue and said,
“I’ll give you a knighthood for your brave actions. I thought the England
team would hate Ronaldo after the world cup. But I see that the England team
are true heroes and should serve as a model for sportsmanship to other
countries.” She knighted them and sailed away.

As she departed Rooney asked the others, “Who was that?!”

“That,” Beckham answered, “was our Queen. She rules the Commonwealth and
knows everything about our country.”

“Well,” Rooney replied, “she knows ** all about shark fishing. How’s the
bait holding up?”

Have I got News for You

Has never let me down. I particularly like how bold Paul Merton is with the absurd.

Things that made me laugh...

Recently, on friday night, Green wing’s surreal antics made me laugh when one of the doctors stuck a tube up his bottom and poured hot coffee through a funnel. This was so that everytime he gave off wind he’d get a caffiene rush. Have I got News for you made me laugh. My brother showed me a video clip of these two japenese men suited up and dancing in the style of ‘Bokko’which made me grin inanely. They dance to techno but in the most manic way possible.

This sounds strange...

But I’ve always been quite a serious person. Things I find hilarious are: Team America, South Park. The time that I was drunk and accidentally gave my friend a grade 1 (I forgot to put the comb back on). We can both laugh at it now. My car blowing up on the M4 was pretty hilarious.
