Signed up for careerbuilders.com and monster.com. Planning to apply for a microfinance firm in nyc tomorrow by referral from a friend. I love my support network so much.
Nothing applied. Nothing lined up. No interviews.
Tomorrow: all day devoted to applications and resume improvements.
In all honesty, I haven’t been exactly proactive with this goal. I wanted to enjoy my summer after graduating from college but I’m finding myself more and more pressured by both my inner conscience and my parents to get a job.
The idea of total independence is both daunting and desired as I’d really like to stand on my own two feet and have some true freedom. As the summer is approximately one month away from ending, I should take some responsibility and start my life. Within this goal, I’ve decided to have mini-goals:
1.) Apply to three to ten jobs a day.
2.) Submit my resume to a temp agency.
3.) Find a place around my town with free wireless to do all this in – gotta get out of the house so I don’t go crazy.
4.) Talk to Alums to relevant industries for advice and HR connections.
5.) List all available leads and follow up on them.
I AM DETERMINED. I AM CAPABLE. I CAN DO THIS. I WILL FIND A JOB!
Made no headway in this goal. Hopefully will during interterm and I’ll just have to send out my resume like crazy then.
So I’m thinking about doing ibanking because it makes you a TON of money and it’s a pretty popular profession that a lot of students at my school get into once they graduate. also, there are a lot of recruiting events on campus with jpmorgan, goldman sachs, bear stearns, etc… so I’m looking into the career.
Anyone have any experience, websites, stories, or advice on IB?
