and my GAC SMJ sweetie are headed my way
He is coming from Crested Butte, the storms from the pacific,
i need to wax my skis to hang with his hard core, tele
ski mana, just fast and guy like, and i heart to make
the “s” turns with him,—xojk

12 new inches of snow, and skiing with my GAC SMJ sweetie, after an amazing valentines day, life couldn’t get any better,
we just kept making long laps, up over the ridge through 3rd entry, 10 turn powder shot, make turns to the upper nest area,
traverse across the cliff line and side step into the steep powder runs, and then get glipses of each other making “S” turns, just out of view, sometimes you would be ahead sometimes its me,
its all fun and games until you hit a tree on the high traverse and your hand swells up and turns blue, just in time to head home make dinner and fall asleep with 2 pugs, and one chocolate lab,
in a king bed,
valentines day was incredible, i am glad you found me and we were left alone…
have a great trip to CO, and if you become bored the powder is supposed to fly again this weekend, so head home soon…kisses to my sweetie GAC SMJ,—xoxoxoxox, jk
pow weekend finally,
could be heading to Rocky Point, with Avalanche beacon, and shovel
which has been calling my name for the past few days, “Rocky Laps”
and then a poach of the peruvian hot tub and pool, the soul
will rearrange its chi back to normal from the work week…
and to hopefully do this with someone who takes my breathe away
could be mind blowing,—xojk
opening day was SAT. a bit off the back with getting to the mountain, i did a personal training session with a great woman friend a little cardio walking and beginnner yoga, get her moving in her body again,
ooohhh, and took a power nap with the 2 pugs and chocolate hilo monster dog on the king size bed and in the sun…
life was good that afternoon,
then headed up the mountian to skate ski into the twilight, i could kind of get a rhythm its early season and i basically suxd… oh well, i took some pix, and watched the light change on devil’s castle, and thot this is “going to be an interesting ski season alone” went to the A-lodge thinking that the friends on the invite list would show, and only one friend and his family ended up going, but a really close couple of mine where there and we talked about an hour in the quaint apres ski bar, the sitzmark, the patrollers showed up later to party and i was headed home to snuggle the pugs.
good weekend jaunt for the first day, one thing to make it better… a poaching of the peruvian pool, to swim in the mist
and watch the light change on high rustler …
the mother A opens thursday, the snow report
states 13 inches in the last 24 inches
my favorite time to ski is during a storm
the run you just hit, is wind buffed and ready for
more tracks to be laid down by the phat boards

@ ALTA today, first day of skiing for the 06/07 ski season,
and it was 50 spf sunscreen blue bird sky kinda day
and the pow was 5% density variety, went with some of the dudes
from the outdoor rec program, but we didn’t rally too hard, one was a beginner, one had pulmonary issues, one had a two day scotch hang over, me? i was lame and didn’t bring the right touring skis, the climbing skins were not fitting on my phat resort boards…total rookie move, and to climb the steep stuff, was not a pretty site, turtled out in the snow, and just decided to ski from there… but its those first days out to get the bugs out and just enjoy where you are in the world…
lets just say my heart rate didn’t get above 120 but it was all good, sun, skiing, and light snow! With some illegal colorado beer thrown in, at the truck tail gate, so a two day storm is headed our way, with an opening day on thursday…should be good to get in some serious verticle with the granite rock and grass just inches from the summer dusty boards…—xojk
@ Alta Tuesday night, had to drive up the canyon, at 9:00pm, just had to! The roads were actually really bad, the rain had turned to ice, and the plows were not taking care of the “winter conditions” at the top of the canyon, even as i entered the canyon a three car pile up had occured, but it was so late it didn’t block traffic, no one was really out on the roads, so i just put the toyota into 4 wheel drive and drove slow up the canyon. It was a good thing because the deer were out as well, I would think they would have dropped down in elevation, but they were still out at around 9000ft. i was able to make my way to the end of the canyon, and parked at the “summer road gate” and start walking in the misty night, marvel at the snowy trees, and faint cabin lights, and listen to nothing, just the air molecules moving in between the blue spruce trees. i was in awe that winter could appear overnight, that i could go into winter so quickly and just be in stillness. And also think it won’t be the same ski season as last, stonecrusherlover, would not be skiing with me, i would have to create new ski friends and moments, and i felt the loss of his instant party energy…
late this weekend into next week the weather report is predicting snow at high elevations, so will see what will happen …
November 17th Alta is predicting to be opening day!—xojkuhl
running, jumping, twisting up and down bleachers, its just not the same as a Lone Pine, or a Jitterbug, or an Eagles Nest run in powder,... but somehow the body needs to get some sports conditioning,
it forgot how to ski, after a summer of trail running and mtn biking, and Adv. Racing TA finding…
hummmm…the snow seems so far away, months… maybe need to see where it is snowing, Chile? hummmmm…

better buy it while supplies last… ok, i was caught up by the marketing but I bought the Silver Card today, it allows a 20.00 off a full day ticket at the Mother A, with a Utah ID… sooooo, now i have some guarentee that I will sporting the Havocs around the mtn, but I am still holding out for a full seasons Alta/Snowbird pass, and if I do get a full season pass, then this card can transfer to family and friends and Utahns in need of some powder stashes…
the picture is of Hell Gate, an amazing rock face below the Mt. Superior Ridge line, to ski superior is the ultimate backcountry notch in your belt. I have not been able to ski it, i have been blown off the approach about 2 times due to weather. White out conditions on the boot wide ridgeline is not the way to go…so make a choice to turn back and hopefully hit it in the spring on a sunny day…hopefully!
SNOW REPORT: 6 inches +plus… and snow covering the road in LCC…
WAXING,xoxoxoxoxo—jkuhllllll
the season is approaching do you have your pass?
looking at buying the 1/2 price discount card… need
to do this by Sept-28th, i think it allows me to nordic ski
on the track as well…
but if i could say the ultimate its the BIRD/ALTA pass and
i think it has my name on it!!!
