Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

Well, idk...

I mean, I got a job, so that’s off my list. I don’t procrastinate at work, which is a good chunk of my day. But there are still things here left unattended. I haven’t quite figured out how to budget my day around a job that I’m at for 9 1/2 hours a day, 5 days a week. In fact, this morning, I was so rushed, I forgot to feed the cats before I left :( talk about some angry kitties when I got home. But, if it’s any consolation, I didn’t eat at lunch because I can’t drive anywhere to get food (no car) and I forgot to pack a lunch for myself. sucky.

meh. I got a lot to learn…

I slipped last week, this week better.

Whoops, for my first week, I was doing great on my non-procrastination thing, so I took a break and decided to have a lazy day. I think that was a bad idea…because then I was like, well…I’ll just chill all weekend, and then…well, one day lead to another, and last week I pretty much did nothing (although, I did have an interview, and I just found out today I got the job, so yay).

Today is Wednesday of the third week. Like I said, I got a job, and that was the biggest thing I was procrastinating on, so I guess a few other things that have been left unattended aren’t a huge deal. I still need to remember to practice my driving everyday. Other than that, it’s just the little stuff. Laundry, my workout routine, my journal writing, my art, ect. that I haven’t been keeping up with. Also, I haven’t been getting up early. yesterday I slept in until 10! yikes, I should be getting up by six, every morning by now, but I slipped on that. today I slept in until 9, tomorrow, I’m going to set my alarm for 6. Usually I would take it slow, but since I’ll be starting my job within a week, I need to be used to it now.

Oh well, it’s not like I have to start from scratch though, I just need to learn how to manage time better…especially now that I have a full time job.

Doing good, but today is a lazy day :)

I figure I kind of deserve it. It has been a very productive week. I got my room clean, taxes done, got a job interview for Monday, got all the necessary stuff gathered to got take my permit test tomorrow, I’ve been keeping up with my workout routine, been training myself to get up earlier and earlier everyday, read two books, been working on my art everyday for at least a half hour, most of the time more, been writing in my journal everyday.

yup. I would say very productive first week of intentionally trying not to procrastinate. And since really, the only two things I was majorly procrastinating on was getting a job, and getting my drivers license, I’m off to a good start since I’ve taken the first steps in securing those things this week. so I’m gonna chill today. My nerves are a little worked up knowing I have that permit test on Saturday, and the job interview on Monday, so I need to not worry about too much today.

But next week, it’s on again. If I have a job by the end of next week (doubtful, even if I do great on the interview, because these things take time, of course) I’m gonna have a lot to learn about budgeting time around an 8 hour a day job. If I don’t have a job, well, I’m pretty much just gonna try to keep myself busy anyway, so I don’t fall back into a lazy pattern.

First thing I’m going to do once/if I get the job, is start working on a budget, before I even get my first paycheck. In fact, I probably should start working on just kind of a basic idea this weekend. Because, whether or not I get the job, having a basic idea for a budget would be a good idea. I can always adjust the numbers if I need to for another job if this doesn’t work out.

So yeah, at least I’m starting to see a bit of light at the end of the tunnel here. yay!

Stop procrastinating today!

I just made a bunch of goals today (18, including this one) and I thought, “well, I’ll start tomorrow on at least some of these goals.”

Well, isn’t that technically procrastination? yes, it is. Today is not over yet (it’s only 5PM) So I’m gonna start now!

Yeah, this seems to be a common goal.

For a good reason. It seems at one time or another, we’ve all been victims of procrastination at one time or another. For some, it might have been a quick bout of lazyness. For me, it’s pretty much been a lifelong struggle.

Right now, I need to get my life in order. The one thing I really really need to stop procrastinating on is getting a job. That’s the big thing. It’s not that I don’t want a job. I do, it gets really boring being home all the time. But sometimes, my lazyness gets the best of me.
