I gave blood tonight and had a little…complication. The blood tech guy (who was an Achiever) said it’s called “vaso-vagal response”.
Basically my body was all like “whoa I’m losing a lot of blood, so I’m going to pull all the blood out of my extremities and save it for my vital organs” so I lost all sensation in my arms and legs and they shriveled up into what people with physical disabilities’ arms sometimes look like.
After a minute of freaking out and feeling like I was going to pass out or die, the tech came over with some energy drinks, of which I slammed two immediately. He took my blood pressure, it was 96/67, that’s low!
The moral of the story is drink a lot of fluids before you give blood.
