This month I read The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins. I have spent the last 2 years learning a lot about the truth about religion and what a joke it is and how many problems it has caused which is why I was very interested in this book.
I enjoyed reading it and it made a lot of sense. I had already heard a lot of the arguments against the existence of God so a lot of it was not new to me but I think Richard Dawkins puts things in a way that explains the absurdity of religious belief very well.

Over the last few months I have been reading The Bible. I finally finished it this month and I am so glad it’s over. It shouldn’t have taken so long but I think I got very bored of it in some places because it repeats itself a lot like the story of Jesus is told 4 times over and the stories about the kings of Israel and Judah are told 3 times over.
It was a very interesting read and it was a big eye opener for me. The parts of The Bible that you hear when you go to church are only a small part of what The Bible is about and I learnt so many new things from actually reading the book.
The thing I hated about The Bible is how it repeats stuff all the time like I said above. The worst part for me was the books about the prophets warning the people of Israel to stop sinning. Those books cover hundreds of pages yet the core idea could be said in just one paragraph.
The books I found the most interesting were Acts, Mathew and Ecclesiastes. The ones I hated were all the ones that prophesized the downfall of Israel because they were so repetitive and I also found Romans to be quite annoying for some reason.
I was shocked at all the violence and hatred in the old testament. I imagine a group of people who believe in only the old testament would be full of hatred and selfishness and would be a great cause of trouble to the rest of the world. Wait a minute – I think there is a group just like that.
The new testament on the other hand is full of lots of good things like teaching people to love and to be good to each other. I can see why Christians prefer it.
Now I must say that I don’t believe in any of that God stuff for many different reasons. Reading The Bible has made me believe even more that God does not exist. I think Christians who want to keep on believing in God should not read The Bible because they will end up not believing in God the way I have. Everyone else on the other hand should definitely read it because it is a valuable learning experience and an important part of our culture. If you do decide to read it then you just need to know that it can get very boring in places so you have to be the kind of person who can force themself to read otherwise you can just read a few of the most important books. Even that will teach you a lot.

I read Walden by Henry David Thoreau this month. The beginning of the book was the best part for me and I enjoyed it more than I have enjoyed reading anything in a long time. The rest of the book wasn’t as good but I still found it interesting and worth reading. The book included his essay called Civil Disobedience which I also thought was very good. The reason why I enjoyed Walden so much is because I am in a stage in my life where I am looking for the same things in life as he was when he wrote the book. I think that for most people Walden will be boring but if you are someone who is interested in living a simple life or in living life deliberately then you should read it.

This month I read The Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett. I was very disappointed with it. I have heard that Terry Pratchett is an excellent writer but I hated the book. To me his writing is neither good nor humorous like people say it is. I found it totally uncompelling and it was torture to have to finish reading the book.
I also read 2 books by Jacques Magliolo about share trading. The first was called Become Your Own Stockbroker and I enjoyed it a lot. The second one was called Richer Than Buffet and is about day trading. The second one was not as good as the first one. They both offered me a lot of insight into the mistakes I have been making with my share trading.

This month I read The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Ballroom Dancing. It is one of the most boring books I have ever read. This book just doesn’t convey how exciting ballroom dancing is.
If you are interested in ballroom dancing then you should try it out for real instead of reading this or any other book on the subject.

I read an incredibly interesting book called Thinkertoys this month. It is all about how to be more creative. The techniques in the book really do work. I think that I have become a more creative person after reading it. A lot of the methods are similar but put in a different way. It is worth reading the whole thing because you get a sort of creative intuition where you don’t even need the book anymore. I am very glad that I read it.

After looking at pictures taken by the rovers on Mars I became very interested in anything to do with Mars. That is why I decided to read a book called Red Mars this month. It turned out to be exactly what I was looking for and more. It tells the story of how Mars will be colonized in the future. It all seems very accurate and is based on what will actually happen. The story is very interesting. I really enjoyed this book.

This month I read Critical Thinking. It is about how to analyze an argument and then how to decide if it is a good argument or not. It is one of the most boring books I have ever read though I did learn a few interesting things from it.

This month I read The 48 Laws of Power. I don’t know if the laws work or not but they seem as if they would. I have used a few of them before without having read the book so I think that the laws are valid. Even if they aren’t it is still one of the most entertaining books around. It is well worth reading.
I also read a book called Philosophy: A Very Short Introduction. Reading this book has made me really interested in philosophy. It seems very strange and is hard to read and understand but the pleasure you get from understanding when you do and thinking about it is well worth it. I will have to get more books on philosophy in the future.

I read The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli this month. It is interesting but a little hard to read. It contradicts itself a lot.
