good company
Archibold is from a shelter and apparently he is in good company as the Presdient Elect has declared that the First Family is seeking a shelter dog as well.
I am sure that after all these years of advocating for shelter pets, we’ll all see a significant change in our cultural attitude toward our best friends!

When I adopted this goal it was something that I had already done, but after realizing how many people subscribe to me, and how many view my list of goals regularly, it just made sense to keep this goal active to promote the idea of adopting shelter dogs.
Today this goal finally hit my cheer leader board (that list of the seven goals that receive the most cheers that is shown at the bottom of the “cheers” page) It’s finally time to retire this goal.

This was supposed to be a portrait.

Archibald is a hopeless case. Not hopeless in the way most people think of shelter dogs, but in a humorous way. He has no dog skills, none. He’s more like a battery powered stuffed animal than a dog.
For some reason he decided that he likes the name Ferdinand Beaverhaussen. What kind of dog would respond to a name like this? (One with no dog skills)
At least with Otis, who I thought had no dog skills, knew that garbage cans were to be peed on, skunks were to be barked at, and when driving with the top down, good dogs wore RayBans (yes, he wore RayBans in the car)
Somehow I think Archibald, er, Ferdinand Beaverhaussen, will never get to that point where he wears RayBans.

Three dogs from a shelter chose me to be their person over the years : Rembrandt, Otis, and Archibald. I recommend allowing being a shelter dogs person to everyone!
