Well, we ordered these big food grade water containers and they came yesterday. Today I filled them with water because I was like, well, what if the earthquake came tonight? We’d feel pretty stupid if the water jugs were just sitting there in the study, empty.
Anyway, we have one 15 (!) gallon jug in the storage area downstairs and three 5 gallon jugs in the kitchen. They’ll go in the storage area too when there’s room. Yeah, I know. 30 gallons is a lot even for earthquake country but Sara wanted to be able to share with the neighbors. I agree with that sentiment.
I’ll be working on some of the other items at 72hours.org in the future. Basically, I want to be ready for the earthquake that is supposed to hit the SF Bay Area in the next 30 years (62% likelihood or something like that). But I’d also like to be ready for peak oil, bird flu, Y2038, big meteors, terrorists, aliens, zombies, rapture, whatever.
