learn ruby on rails

I just wanted to let everyone know that I am really close to being done with my first paying RoR gig. It is an e-commerce application (yeah, real original right?), but the company that I am working for is really hyper dope, and it is my first really big web development project, so I am excited.

dang, just a few months from nothing to a paying job for which I get to use ruby on rails!

and to think, I had done NO web development before at all…

I will let you all know when the site goes live, but right now I can tell you that it will be totally cool, and you will want to buy all of their products (especially if you have a beard, or bearded men in your life)

I am getting closer and closer… last night I deployed my second app to my testing team (my roommates). I think this one will have at least a little bit of a market, and perhaps I can figure out how to host it on a shareware / open source basis.

it is basically an accounting application for people living together and sharing bills. I wrote it because I thought that it is nicer to collaborate on keeping accounting rather than just trusting one person with an excel spreadsheet.

but I am getting closer. I got my first web app up and running at http://comics.jonbro.tk

I am already working on a multi user version of the system, and I have ideas for larger projects.

It took me about 5 nights up until 4am to get this thing working but I had a ton of fun along the way.
