find the right person and start a family

I have known this couple for the longest time and I thought that they were perfect for each other. Suddenly I got a call from my friend saying that the relationship is over. I was so surprised that I accidentally dropped the phone. If their relationship that seems so perfect can still fall apart then what hope is there left for me. I sometimes think maybe we are all meant to explore and be with many people and not glued to only that one person. But yet I only want one person that would grow old with me. Wonder if there is still hope out there?
