I haven’t had anything to report for a few days.
I took a few days off from the gym to allow my legs to recover from the last run and found that sitting around at home when I would normally go to the gym gave me cravings for sweet things and been munching on oat and fruit bars (120 cals each).
Also been feeling more tired lately.

Having successfully completed the Nike 10K Race last Sunday I am now moving up to 10 Miles (=16Km). I have never run 10 miles before so this is a new challenge and I have 6 weeks training time starting today.

No booze and birthday cake til tomorrow.
I have my 10Km run for Prostate Cancer Charity this evening so the chocolate birthday cake my wife is downstairs baking will have to wait til tomorrow…

I weighed in at 88.4 Kilos (194.5 Lbs) this morning and now just 2Lbs off from reaching the half way stage – tomorrows 10Km run should see to that.
When I set up my plan I looked at the scenario of losing 55 Lbs at 2.2Lbs a week would have meant reaching my target over 25 weeks (6 months – mid Jan 2009).
As things stand I will have reached the half way stage in just 48 days (7 weeks). To lose 55Lbs in 100 days would be amazing!
I am now targeting end of October to reach 175 Lbs – my height is 6ft 1”
In summary:
SW: 220 Lbs (100 Kilos)
CW: 194.5 Lbs (89.4 Kilos)
GW: 165 Lbs (75 kilos)
Weight loss to date: 25.5 Lbs in 46 days (0.55 Lbs per day).

Weighed myself this morning and was down half a kilo on yesterday. Have stepped up my workouts in preparation for Sunday – have got my race t-shirt and chip to record my time.
Realised yesterday that apart from 1 pair of sneakers and a few work shirts I haven’t bought any new clothes for almost 2 years – I think it’s beginning to show. Good news is that I put a pair of jeans on this morning that I hadn’t worn for over a week and they were looose!
Have promised myself £1000 to spend on new clothes shop when I reach 165Lbs – only 31 to go!

I am asking this question because there seems to be a real mix of people on here who are successfuly losing weight and those trying and not succeeding. In addition there is lots of advice out there in terms of what you should eat, what you shouldn’t, how much, how often etc.
I think I have been successful thus far and yet I feel that some of the things I do contradict some of the popular thought on losing weight i.e. I weigh myself everyday.
I do it at the same time every day and make a note of it track my daily progress on a graph. That seems to work for me.
I also consume far less than the recommended number of calories that I have seen being discussed on here for fear of side-effects and still manage 4-5 gym sessions a week without feeling tired, lethargic, hungry, dizzy etc.
I wonder what other things work for people which are not necessarily recommended (and I don’t mean fasting).

That is a rate of 0.55Lbs per day.
Weighed myself this morning and came in at 89.5Kg (197Lbs) and am 42% of the way towards my target of 75Kg (165Lbs) which would give me a BMI of 22. I expect to reach the half way mark in 5-6 days time.
After 3 days of teetering around 90-90.4 it was good to get the breakthrough.
Ran 6.3 Km yesterday evening in 40 Minutes and want to add 5 mins to that today and see if I can get to 7 Km.
SW: 220 Lbs
CW: 197 Lbs
GW: 165 Lbs

After missing 3 days at the gym I did a short lunchtime workout today.
I finally broke through 3Km in 20 mins on the cross-country, cross-trainer 6 weeks after I set that target I had been dangling around 2.92-2.95Km for the past few weeks – I guess the rest helped.
I followed up with a 2.06 minute 1000m on the rower.
I have 4 days til my 10K run so will go for a 40 minute run this evening and see how far I get.

I have been away these last few days staying with my wife at her parents so the last time I gym’d was Saturday afternoon. We celebrated my brother in laws birhtday yesterday with home made pizzas and a massive chocolate birthday cake that my wife made for the occasion. (I had the smallest slice).
I weighed myself this morning and I am about a 1Lb up on my weight Sunday morning and back at what I weighed last Thursday.
Weekends have tended to be a challenge to stick to a routine and regime because we have been away 4 of the last 5 weekends – which means limited gym activity and someone else’s cooking.
See if you can spot the weekends on my weight chart.
